
The Indian Cricket Team is going to play bilateral ODI series with Afghanistan for the first time in its ODI history. This series will be played after the World test championship final in the month of june. India and Afghanistan (India vs Afghanistan ODI series) have been face to face only three times in the ODI format so far. All these three matches have been played during the Asia Cup and the World Cup. In these, india has won twice and one match has been deawn. In such a situation, both the countries will start bilateral competition through theupcoming series.
India played its first ODI in 1974. In such a situation, this is the first time in 38 years when he is going to play ODI series from Afghanistan. Afghanistan, however, played against scotland in 2009. It is believed that this series will be played in india only. This would mean that only five team the WTC final, the indian team would be seen playing ODIs.
BCCI Secretary jai shah gave indications of this series on 14 April. He gave information about this series during the conversation regarding media rights. BCCI’s media rights deal is over. The board will have to make some new arrangements for the India-Afghanistan series. Shah said, according to the media rights tender program, it will be issued in june-july and it will depend on the Afghanistan tour. But there is every possibility that the media rights will start with the Australia series (September). The board will talk to all stakeholders about this and take an interim decision regarding the broadcaster.
Extra chance to prepare before the World Cup

India’s ODI series from Afghanistan is not part of the future tours programme. But through this series, Team India will get a chance to prepare before the 2023 world cup to be held in Octouber-Novermber. Through this series, Team India can try new combinations before the world cup. Apart from this series, India has only Asia Cup and three ODI series from Australia to prepare before the World Cup. BCCI’s broadcast deal with star india expired at the end of march. Now it has to be seen whether the BCCI floats a separate tender only for the Afghanistan series or makes some other arrangement.
